I am writing this to present you with the July issue of Connexion. The IIMC campus at Joka Land was abuzz with activities and we are happy to share those with you all!
IIMCAA Singapore hosted the visit of IIM Calcutta Director Prof. Anju Seth to the city recently where she met several IIM Calcutta alumni based in Singapore. The annual IIM Calcutta alumni city meet or Nostalgia as it is known to you was held in six cities across the globe including Hong Kong, Dubai, London, New York, Amsterdam and Singapore this year. Back home in India Nostalgia was celebrated across various city chapters. IIMCAA Mumbai chapter hosted the 3rd edition of its annual start-up event Clarion Call during this quarter. Clarion Call provides an opportunity for start-ups for receiving investments from start-up investors and mentorship from IIM C alumni and industry experts.
IIM Calcutta welcomed its 56th batch of students to its flagship two-year full time MBA Programme. Ganesh Krishnan, Serial Entrepreneur, Chairman, Portea Medical and also a 20th batch alumnus of IIM Calcutta graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Embracing the worldwide codification of business management degree, our institute too has started awarding MBA degree instead awarding of diploma for its one year residential programme PGPEX – named MBAEx. The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) - a unique and prestigious joint programme offered by three premier institutes of India inducted sixty-two students to its 5th batch this year.
You will be happy to know that Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, the country's premier management education institute collaborated with BARC India, the world's largest TV audience measurement service to curate a report on BARC India's TV panel sample sizes. The report presented to BARC India summarizes the review, analysis, and recommendations for the sample design of BARC India's panel.
IIM Calcutta introduced a new programme on Competing on Digital Mind sets (CDM) under its Executive Education portfolio.

IIM Calcutta alumnnus, Taranjeet Singh Bhamra aims to change the way agriculture is practiced through his start-up AgNext, which he co-founded with Deepak Jaiswal and Mrigank Sharad. The start-up provides solutions to improve the productivity and profitability of growers and food processors. It has raised $4 million from investors such as Omnivore Capital and Kalaari.
Manipal Education & Medical Group (MEMG), a privately held conglomerate focused on education, healthcare and research, announced recently the appointment of Subrat Mohanty as its Group President. Mohanty, an IIMC alumnus, shall spearhead business performance and strategy across the Group’s interests in Education, Healthcare and Health Insurance. He has extensive prior experience in scaling up businesses, understanding digital trends and transforming traditional enterprises, thereby infusing new age tools & practices.
The one-year programme on Competing on Digital Mindsets (CDM) is the first of its kind as it has been curated
keeping in mind the requirements of people from the IT industry. The aim of the programme is to equip
participants with the ability to think about technology and business differently — such that they can re-wire
client organisations enabling them to become agile in technology and business.
As per the NASSCOM-McKinsey Perspective 2025, top executives at tech companies believe that by 2020 50-70
per cent of the current staff will need reskilling which could help retain the relevance to this massive
proportion of the workforce, she said, highlighting the need for such a programme.
The programme commencing in July 2019 consists of a three-hour session per week for a period of 11 months.
The sessions will be delivered through Direct to Desktop mode. It will also include three campus visits. The
participants will be engaged in the curriculum through lectures, case studies, experiential learning, an
integrative capstone project along with guest lectures from practitioners. The eligibility for enrolling in the
programme is work experience of at least 7 years after graduation.
