We are immensely proud to share the news that The School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University (SIPA) Alumni Association will be bestowing their Distinguished Alumni Award on our illustrious alumnus Mr. Sumant Sinha (PGP batch 24) . A leading first generation entrepreneur, Sumant Sinha is the Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of ReNew Power – India’s largest clean energy company. He has been at the forefront of India’s clean energy expansion and is recognized around the world as a leading entrepreneur and advocate for sustainable development and solutions to climate change. He founded ReNew Power in January 2011, starting with a small wind project of 25 MW in Gujarat and a vision to transform the way energy is produced and consumed in India. Since then, under his leadership, ReNew Power has grown exponentially to emerge as India’s largest renewable power producer with the capacity of more than 8.65 GW of wind & solar power assets. As an expert on economic policy and climate change, he speaks extensively at global platforms, such as the World Economic Forum and forums organized by the Financial Times, Fortune, and top global universities. A sought after columnist and commentator, Sumant has authored more than 100 articles in leading global and Indian publications.
The SIPA Alumni Association honours alumni for their achievements and extraordinary contributions to improving their communities - locally, nationally, and globally - and for service to SIPA.The award is presented annually. This year, the award ceremony will take place on the Alumni Day, Saturday, April 30, 2022.
