Rishikesan Parthiban
Rishikesan Parthiban completed his PhD with a major in Management Information Systems and a minor in Marketing. His dissertation titled “Essays on Digital Social Innovations for Rural Development” was completed under the guidance of Prof. Somprakash Bandyopadhyay with Prof. Ramendra Singh, Prof. Saravana Jaikumar and Prof. Israr Qureshi serving as the members of his Thesis Advisory Committee. His thesis uses a multi-method approach to investigate the mechanisms through which digital technologies address the issues faced by marginalized rural communities in the context of rural education and rural artisans in India.
His research (with other co-authors) thus far has appeared in the journals International Journal of Information Management, Information Systems Frontiers, Information Technology & People and European Journal of Marketing. He (along with his co-authors) has received research grants/support by the Global Development Network, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and North American Society for Marketing Education in India. He is also the recipient of recognition/awards at several national and international conferences including the Academy of Management Conference, PAN-IIM World Management conference and Indian Academy of Management Conference.
Rishikesan is passionate about the social sector in general and ICT enabled rural development in India in particular. He actively seeks to engage with social enterprises through field work, action oriented approaches and social work. His research interests include ICT for sustainable development, digital social entrepreneurship and grand challenges.
