Youth Money Olympiad

E-Cell IIM Calcutta organized Youth Money Olympiad (YMO), India’s first National Level Finance and Money Olympiad conceptualized by Money-Wizards and introduced at IIM C for the first time. Money Wizards in association with Principal PNB Asset Management conducts the Olympiad in top colleges across state capitals in India and it is the largest national level financial literacy initiative targeted at college students.

The YMO is a multiple choice Financial Literacy test where the respondents need to answer 100 questions in 75 minutes. The test covers aspects of Banking, Insurance, Stocks, Mutual Funds etc. It provides an instant assessment of the person’s Financial IQ. One advantage is that the test can be taken both from a PC or smartphone and may be taken till 31st November 2016. The Olympiad has two rounds: college/ university round and the national round or the finals wherein winners of the college round compete against each other. The best performers garner attractive incentives and awards such as an employability certificate for those scoring above 75%. Some other incentives include a financial literacy primer E-book by Money Wizards, free Career Kiasu membership emails which offer career insights from industry experts spanning several industries every week. Moreover Career Kiasu helps participants reach out to these experts with career and industry related queries and students benefit from Resume Improvement and Interview tips and techniques.

Overall the YMO sparks financial literacy among the youth which helps them take informed financial decisions once they start earning which is noteworthy.
Quizophrenia 2016

On November 10, 2016, the Talent and Organization Management (TOM) club of IIM Calcutta organized an online quiz titled "Quizophrenia 2016" which attracted a large number of participants. The online quiz pitted teams against one another in an effort to discover the Leadership Quotient of the teams. It was a test of organizational behavior and leadership concepts. The quiz also tested the participants on speed, since the fastest team to submit the quiz with the most number of correct responses would be crowned champions.
ICQC Yakshaprashnam

In the Mahabharata, the pandavas were subjected to the questions of a Yaksha and to gain access to life giving water, they had to answer the question correctly. On November 13, 2016, the quizzers of IIM Calcutta, under the aegis of ICQC, faced a similar situation. The exception was that the questions came from human source and that the prizes were currency and knowledge.

On November 13, IIM Calcutta, among other institutes all over the country, hosted an all-India written quiz competition in association with NIT Silchar. The name of the event, taken from the mythical quiz of Mahabharata, was Yakshaprashnam. IIM Calcutta selected five of her best entries at the campus level and forwarded them to the national level, the results of which we await eagerly. The national winner shall be awarded a Cash Prize amounting to INR 5000/- and the runners ups shall be awarded Books.
INVENT outreach programme at Kalyani Government Engineering College

The INVENT outreach programme took place at Kalyani Govt Engineering College (KGEC) auditorium on Friday, November 11, 2016 where there were about 120 participants comprising final year students, Faculties and research associates from different colleges of Nadia District, West Bengal and also some entrepreneurs from the same district. Sessions were taken on “Ideation & Creating Business Plan” for the budding entrepreneurs and “Support Ecosystem by Start ups.”

Ideas to Implementation 2016-17

E- Cell, IIM Calcutta in association with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) has launched its flagship event – Ideas to Implementation (commonly known as i2i ) 2017. i2i is one of the biggest and most sought after Business - Plan Competitions in India. We have received an overwhelming response – with over 400+ applications – and are currently in the evaluation stage. The semi-finals and finals will take place at IIM Calcutta campus from 4-6 Feb 2017.
