Convocation 2017

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta the first Indian business school crowned with triple international accreditations by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), AMBA (Association of MBAs) and EQUIS (the three major international accreditation bodies for Business Schools) celebrated its 52nd Convocation at the campus today. The landmark ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri. PranabKumar Mukherjee, Hon’ble President of India as the Chief Guest, in the august presence of Mr.AjitBalakrishnan, Chairman of IIM Calcutta’s Board of Governors and Prof. Saibal Chattopadhyay, Director, IIM Calcutta. This year Diploma was awarded to 434 students graduating in Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) followed by 68 students in Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX) and 40 students in Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM). The institute also conferred 13 students with the Fellowship Programme diploma.

Venkatesh (Venky) Shankar, Coleman Chair Professor of Marketing and Director of Research, Center for Retailing Studies, Mays Business School, Texas A&M University and 21st Batch PGDM, was selected as the 2017 AMS/Cutco-Vector Distinguished Marketing Educator. The award recognizes lifetime achievement in marketing education and advancing the discipline through teaching, research, mentorship and service in promoting and upholding professionalism. Previous winners include Philip Kotler, George Day, and Paul Green.

Workshop on Managing Innovation in Small Businesses

IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), in collaboration with GIZ & Steinbeis Germany, brings to you a 4-day Workshop on ‘Managing Innovation in Small Businesses’ to promote & inculcate the spirit of innovation among entrepreneurs for rapid growth, and enhance the Innovation Management capability of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) & Start Ups. The workshop will start on 31st May’2017, and end on 3rd June’2017.

The programme is designed to help participants acquire necessary skills to successfully manage innovation in business. It would particularly assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) & Start Ups to not only find the ‘right idea’ to grow their business but also to improve their overall innovativeness. As entrepreneurs (SMEs & Start Ups) play a crucial role in driving economic development and create employment, this programme has been designed to help them to innovate, develop and explore feasible business models and markets to enhance the growth of their enterprises.
