Final Placements 2018

IIM Calcutta has completed the Finals Placement process for the Batch of 2018. The batch witnessed 100% placement in just a little over two days, with over 130 firms offering profiles across diverse sectors.
A total of 474 offers were made out of which nearly 50% were from the Finance and Consulting sectors.

Sustainability Week 2018

Sustainability Week 2018 was organized by Oikos Kolkata from 13th February to 16th February. The week started with a guest talk by Mr. Puneet Gupta, 46th batch alumnus and founder of Clensta International. He talked about his entrepreneurial journey of starting a firm for sustainable future, and achieving a world record in International Travel.

Smart Fifty- A National Startup Hunt

E-Cell IIM Calcutta is conducting a national level Startup Hunt- “Smart Fifty.” The program saw an outreach of over 1 million people through TV, Social media, partner network and physical outreach. Around 15000 applications were received of the Top 3000 list were selected, and the result was released in January.

Film Appreciation Workshop at MCHV

The Management Centre for Human Values (MCHV) organized a workshop on film appreciation titled ‘Reading Film: An Introduction’ on Sunday, 25 February 2018. The workshop was led by Dr. Moinak Biswas, Professor of Film Studies at Jadavpur University, Editor of the Journal of the Moving Image, and past editor of Bioscope: South Asian Screen Studies (Sage). He is Frank and Cindy Liu Distinguished Professor at Rice University, Houston and an independent film maker.

Clothes Collection Drive

Every year, INCA, the community action club of IIM Calcutta organizes several clothes collection drives on the campus and sends the collected articles of clothing to various NGOs. This year as the 53rd batch of IIM Calcutta were about to leave their alma mater, INCA organized a cloth collection drive from February to March, 2018.

Guest talk by alumni

Mr. Ananthanarayanan Sandeep, Executive President of Planman Consulting delivered a guest lecture on M&A Valuation and Strategic Marketing drawing on his 20+ years’ experience in the fields. A very insightful session which showed a different corporate view of the knowledge attained. Mr. Sandeep is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, batch of 1996.

Prof. Anindya Ghose, alumnus 33rd batch, Heinz Riehl Chair Professor of Business and the Director of the Masters of Science in Business Analytics program at NYU Stern, and the Author of TAP: Unlocking the Mobile Economy, (MIT Press) has won awards in two categories for this business book.

Madhusudan Gopalan, an IIM Calcutta alumnus of the 34th batch, who started his career at P&G india in 1999 in the sales function has been appointed as the new CEO and MD of P&G India.
